Adult Learning beyond the General Election

NIACE briefing note sets out the policies of the 3 main parties

The briefing note is adapted from a paper considered by the Policy Committee of the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) on 25 March 2010. It attempts to summarise some of the implications of different election outcomes including structures, policies and budgets.

The Policy Committee is sharing this with all NIACE members in the run up to the election, hoping it will be of interest and of use. They would welcome any comments or feedback. It is of course, supplied in good faith without NIACE accepting liability for any decisions made on the basis of information given.

NIACE staff are currently finalising the text of questions for prospective parliamentary candidates and a statement of a vision for lifelong learning in the years ahead which they hope will inform the actions of the next government.
