Sunday 15 June saw the launch of New Writing Worlds 08, Human:Nature, a literary festival featuring many events on the UEA campus with key contributors from the University community.

UEA Professors Giles Foden and Andrew Watson, acclaimed writer and environmentalist respectively, spoke at the Norwich Playhouse on the subject of our planet and our role in its future last night. They were joined by the likes of Friends of the Earth Director Tony Juniper and RSPB Professor Rhys Green. ECA Chair Bernard Godding also attended the event, where an Every Action Counts stall was prominent.

The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts will host a free evening of readings, talks and short films throughout the week. The world-renowned Nobel prize winning author J.M. Coetzee will also speak at the UEA in one of his rare public appearances on Thursday 19th June.

Other festival events include an afternoon of readings, refreshments and more in the beautiful Bishop’s Garden (Norwich Cathedral grounds) and a night of exciting spoken word and musical performance at the Norwich Arts Centre.

There will also be free tea-time readings at the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium library throughout the week.
