ECA welcomes a new member

Centre for Youth and Community Development

The Educational Centres Association is delighted to welcome a new member, the Centre for Youth and Community Development, Luton’s largest BME organisation, situated in the heart of the city where it responds to the wide variety of ethnic minorities which enrich Luton’s culture. The organisation provides activities from pre-school to fourth age participants.

Although struck by the cuts common to all charities this year, CYCD’s director, Mir Juma, is not daunted. “Our plans include growth, even in these bad times”, he says. “The worst forecast is to stand still, but that is the worst forecast.” One area for development will be the adult learning agenda, including both formal and informal learning. The organisation will be using the ECA’s expertise and network to help them on their way.
