New Sustainable Development Resources for Learning and Skills Sector

LSIS launch resources on Excellence Gateway

LSIS have launched new resources which can be found on the Excellence Gateway to help learning and skills providers lead the way in strategy and practice around sustainable development, climate change and carbon reduction. This follows on from their 2010 strategy to support the sector in responding to sustainable development issues.

The resources include the Sustaining Our Future Framework which aims to promote a shared understanding of sustainability in the sector providing a common vision and key themes. It also provides a catalyst for providers to develop new or enhance existing strategies and approaches, a focus for sharing of ideas and experience, support for providers and sector bodies to capture the impact of their sustainable development work as well as promoting and demonstrating coherence in sector bodies’ responses to the challenge.

The Reaching Forward Index is a resource to support providers in assessing their development and performance as a sustainable organisation. It helps providers to consider current policy and practice, identify areas of high performance and areas in need of development and measure through regular reviews, distance travelled.

Also included are details of the 27 sector-led projects funded by LSIS through the Stepping up to Sustainability and Cut the Carbon programmes which finished in March 2011.
